Lista de especies extintas es un desempeño interdisciplinario que incorpora el movimiento, el sonido y las artes visuales. Un inmenso plástico negro como una escultura blanda (como una almohada) y la inflación de aire, se mueve en el espacio. Como un cazador. Este objeto es abstracto y tiene un poder evocador. Traga y escupe seres humanos, cuerpos desnudos; podríamos considerarlo como una alegoría de Leviatán y un monstruo legendario submarino, una metáfora del capitalismo, y las mismas condiciones humanas. Tiene el poder de amplificar la imaginación de quién está observado y de quién realiza la práctica, la acción directa en katarsis, de multiplicar asociaciones y capas conceptuales.

Continue readingMaterial: Sound installation (soundscapes, Couplets by Moondog, Trimba music, 16 speakers) As his contribution to Sculpture Projects, Ogboh has developed a sound concept for the Hamburger Tunnel, an underground passageway next to Münster’s main station. Based on the compositions and poems of the legendary American musician Moondog, he uses, among other things, material recorded on the Trimba by Moondog’s close friend Stefan Lakatos. The instrument was invented by Moondog—a blind street musician, who was born Louis Thomas Hardin (1916–1999)—and it is characteristic of the pieces he began composing in the late 1940s. According to the obituary written by his old New York flatmate Philip Glass, he was one of the most influential nonconformists of his time, an associate of Leonard Bernstein, and a source of inspiration for the composer Artur Rodziński. Feliç encontre el d’aquests dos inquiets artistes, Emiliano Hernández-Santana (EHS, Veneçuela) i Antonio Clavijo Victori, aka Primo Gabbiano (Barcelona). EHS és artista plàstic i experimentador sonor i de vídeo. Després de participar de l’escena electrònica de Nova York, torna a Veneçuela i es converteix en pioner de l’escena Netlabel al continent americà, fundant segells com ara Microbio i Angustia. Ha participat a festivals a Amèrica i Europa. Primo Gabbiano és músic i artista visual. Explora la faceta més experimental de la música, emprant drons, paisatge sonor, noise, ambient i electrònica primitiva. El 2012 va guanyar el Primer Premi de la Taula de les Arts Visuals de Manresa per Contradansa. Col·labora amb el grup d’art contemporani Fame Chimica. Or is the explanation more elaborate? I suppose I’ll have to ask… but in a post-truth society, it’s more fun to guess or fabulate… #phikenews? Well, whatever it means, what it is… is a new trio in Barcelona, comprising three beyond-busy stalwarts of the free improvisation scene. I was already tempted to check them out but when they described themselves as a “Keiji Haino meets AMM” kind of thing, that clinched it. So is it a good description? With a samurai unhesitancy, they plunge directly in – clang, rumble, and clatter – with plenty of power, an absence of fear, and manage to avoid both cliché and repetition. So far, so good. Last time, I burbled on about “matching and contrasting tones and textures… layered and discarded in an unstoppable kineticism,” and yes, I’ll stand by those words. Phicus are carving out their own intense brand of precision disorder. Passages of glorious frenzy alternate with more meditative minimalism, and throughout there’s a constant energy, a seething potential being tapped and channelled. Continue readingLast session of the season, and a special one. I went with some expectations. Freenètics are well known with their well balanced powers. The raw rumble of Ferràn giant saxophone, counterposed with the delicate vibrations of Juan Antoni cello and the versatile drumming of Pep always deliver powerful and subtile performances. Add to that a passionate and athletic dancer and you have all the necessary ingredients for a great session. But reality overcame expectations. Tura’s movements were magically paced with the evolving sound of the trio, as if they had been rehersing for years. And the music was demanding; and the scenario was demanding; in such a short distance every detail is magnified. No escape. And Tura filled the space with her brave mood and her flexible and trained athlete body and her precise and quick movements. Amazing. And the musicians were all the time following her movements and closing

Continue readingPerformance de Úrsula San Cristóbal CASTELLANO ¿La libertad del cuerpo femenino solo puede estar asociada a la desnudez? ¿Cómo construimos la imagen pública de nuestros cuerpos? ¿Es solo fruto de la aceptación pasiva de las imposiciones sociales o es producto de las reflexiones personales? ¿Quién tiene el derecho a decidir sobre la visibilidad pública del cuerpo femenino? El proyecto “La habitación” intenta abordar estas preguntas en una acción donde el cuerpo femenino es problematizado y representado a través del sonido, la voz y la escritura.
