Annika Francke, alto sax, slide thing, Tom Chant, tenor and soprano sax, Josep Maria Balanyà, piano, at Sinestesia, Barcelona, 1st of May, 2018, within Som-Hi! sessions curated by Marianne Brull. Intense and passionate playing, as it always happens when these players are on stage. The Som-Hi! Sessions are outstanding opportunities in order to have a good idea on what’s going on in Barcelona around free improvisation, bringing together local based musicians with frequent visitors, as it happens with Tom Chant, based in London and with Josep-Maria Balanyà, based in Belgium. Highly recommended. Sinestesia is a venue with a growing status due to their excellent programming taste.

Groc! Performance. Dedicated to catalan political prisoners in spanish jails. Ramón Prats, percussion & Josep Maria Balanyà, piano at Crazylane Barcelona, 29-04-2018. Music for catalan political prisoners in spanish prisons due to corrupt fascist judges and politicians. Great performance by two consolidated top level improvisers and musicians. A true Free Power Duo. I’m deeply grateful to the musicians to be able to be there, because they invite me. Music in this very short distance is different and much better. After this sort of experiences it becomes less pleasant to attend events in big venues, where musicians and performers are just small figures in the distance. We are privileged people.
